Introduction and Background Information

The department of General Surgery has been operating since 1971, when KCMC was established. The department is located on the second floor of the main building. The department offers the following services: General surgery, Paediatric surgery, Burn care, Reconstructive surgery, some aspects of neurosurgery, and Endoscopic (keyhole) surgery. The department also offers Day-Care surgical services.

The department has expanded itself into various units namely; Burn unit, Intensive Care Unit, Paediatric Surgery unit and Day-Care Surgery Unit which is under construction.

The department continues to strive in teaching and research, with continuous intake of new undergraduate and postgraduate students. We strive to provide opportunity for diligent and motivated individuals to broadly acquire skills.

1. In patient care (S1,Burn unit, paediatric unit, ICU A & B).
2. Outpatient care clinic.
