ADVANCED DIPLOMA OPHTHALMIC NURSING

KCMC School of Advanced Ophthalmic Nursing started in October, 1994 as a continuation of an upgrading course in paediatric speciality for nurses with a certificate in nursing, which existed from 1978 - April 1994. The course is intended for teaching those who hold a diploma in General Nursing. It is the only one of its kind owned by the Ministry of Health.

Ophthalmic Nursing

This two-year advanced diploma course is open to applicants who are already experienced registered nurses. Theoretical and practical aspects of nursing and the eye patient are involved in the course. Optometry Diploma

Form 4-6 School leavers are invited to apply for this three-year diploma course in refraction, dispensing and manufacture of spectacles and visual devices. This is a well-established course, and new premises are now constructed.

Diploma in Optometry students spend much of their third year refracting in the Eye Clinic.
