Department of Ophthalmology Training Programmes:

1) M.Med. Ophthalmology

Post-Internship Doctors with a first medical degree may apply for this four-year course including a year of primary sciences and three years of clinical training in medical and surgical ophthalmology. Present students are from Tanzania and other African countries. Applicants should write to the Dean, KCM College at the address below.

2) Assistant Medical Officer Cataract Surgeon in Ophthalmology

Assistant Medical Officers with 2 years experience after graduation may apply. This is a two-year course in the practice of ophthalmology, the second year of which involves cataract surgery training. Graduates are recognized by the Ministry of Health as Cataract Surgeons. Applicants for the course should please apply to the Principal, Assistant Medical Officer in Ophthalmology School, at the address below.

3) Fellowship in Vitreo-Retinal Surgery

This is a year course offered to Ophthalmologists who are interested. Trainees come from Tanzania and other African Countries. Applicants should send their applications to the Head of Eye Department through the address below.

The Department work closely with other schools and assist in training particularly other Eye Care providers eg School of Advanced Diploma in Ophthalmic Nurses and School of Optometry.
