Training Centre Health Records
TCHRT is a school under the Ministry of Health located on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro at the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre, Moshi ,one of Tanzania's four consultant hospitals.
The school, which is the only one of its kind in the country started 1991. The course is replacing a previous one year training.
The school building are equipped with modern teaching aids.
Accommodation is provided
in a students' hostel within the hospital compound
Course
The overall of the Health Records Technician training is to prepare health
personnel to be capable of managing and maintaining health records and
information systems.
TCHRT provides a two years' full time course comprising of six blocks. The medium of instruction is English. The examinations are both theoretical. Certificate in Health Records Technology is a awarded by the Ministry of Health, Tanzania, to those who successfully pass the final qualifying examinations.
Objective
The Health Records Technicians should be able to manage and organize record
services through:-
- Storing and retrieving health records
- Coding, classifying diseases and maintaininga diagnostic index
- Collecting, tabulating, analyzing and interpreting data
- Planning, supervising and co-ordinating activities within the records services
- Maintaining health records services
and educating health personnel in record keeping
Entry requirements
- The course is for both males and females
Entrants must: - Preferably be 40 years or below for in service training and 25 years or below for pre-service training.
- Hold at least an "O" level certificate (form IV) with a pass in Mathematics, English and one Science subject.
- Or have attended the previous one year Medical recorder course at KCMC
- Candidates must satisfactorily complete an interview before registration.
- Be in good health with no obvious disability
" Be interested in serving people in need of all denominations and races
Intake
- The intake is every year.
- Final recruitment is done by the Training
Section of the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the school
- The selected candidates will be notified
by individual letters and receive joining instructions
