MASTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH (MPH) PROGRAMME
Course Duration
This is a one calendar year starting in September and ending in September the following year. The course is a full time programme and daily attendance is important. Following the successful completion of course work, candidates will submit the project dissertation which will normally be 4 weeks before the date of the viva voce examinations. This will normally take place towards the end of September.
Admission Criteria
Candidates with a good first degree: MD, BSc, BA will be considered for admission into the MPH program
Equivalent qualifications:
All candidates aspiring to join the program on equivalent qualifications:
- Will be expected to have an advanced diploma from a recognized institution
- Have a working experience of at least 2 years after graduation.
Priorities for selection to attempt the University entry examination will be as follows (in descending order):
- Form six leavers with at least two
principal passes at any level in science subjects.
- Form six leavers with at least one
principal pass provided he/she attained at least 3 credits of C grade
or above at O-level in science subjects.
- Form four leavers with at least 3
credits of C grade or above at O-level in science subjects.
NB: The science subjects are: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and
Nutrition.
- All Candidates selected under either
direct or equivalent qualifications will have to sit and pass the University
Entry examination including interviews.
- All Candidates should come with original
certificates of all courses taken including academic transcripts and
any other supporting documents.
Academic Degree
Upon successful completion of examination requirements, the Master of Public Health Degree is awarded by The Tumaini University.
The assessment include:
- Written oral and/or practical tests at the end of each module
- Approved dissertation based on a field study
- A final oral examination based on the dissertation.
Costs and Scholarships
The tuition fees to be paid to the college for Tanzanian students is (US$ 5,275) or Tsh. Equivalent.
For foreign students, the fee is US$ 9,385.
